It's called Random Accesss Memory.
You're looking for memory on that site.
I think that model has 1 GB, but you can upgrade it to 2 GB.

Would upgrading my ram on my laptop from 512mb to 1gb get rid of insane loading screens? After I get past the loading screens I usually do fine but I can't do random arenas because I'm always dead when I finally load. Also, is it bad for my pagefile usage to be at a steady 300mb? I heard somewhere that pagefile will slow you down.

You should still check if you can run Gw before buying it, because even tho you have XP doesnt mean GW will run on your computer since some windows only programs dont run an a MAC at all. Some of the windows live services are an example of this, my friend cant run them on his Macbook and its almost brand new.

No..video..card.. ? Anyone know if it has a gpu?
Running 15-20 FPS average? No game is fun 15-20 fps average imho, 15-20 minimum is ok (my 7800 gs oc'd to death gets 15 fps occasionally in large cities).

OMG, I don't know how you've been playing with just 512. Upgrading would most certainly help. If you've got that small of ram, it might also be worth your while to check on your graphics card. That too will slow you down.
Another thing you can do is to make a duplicate shortcut of your gw icon and change the target location to this: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image. That will load all images and avoid taking forever to load an area. After you've done that, use the regular shortcut to load the game.

That's evidence of a CPU bottleneck, I would imagine.

I used to have 512 Mb of RAM and moving around, looking at things was somewhat jerky. Since I upgraded to 1 Gb + 256 Mb of RAM, GW ran smooth as silk, maxed settings. I have a AMD Athlon 64 +3400 Mobile and ATI Mobility Radeon 9600, so other hardware probably wasn't an issue, rather texture caching. I recommend playing Guild Wars with anything above 1 Gb of RAM.

Yea, I got the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 also. I've got 512mb ram right now and will probably add on another 512mb to get 1gb which is the max for this laptop.

My 7800 GS OC runs games like HL2 and CSS on 60, sometimes 70+ FPS, but for some reason I think Nvidia cards don't get along with GW, and at the highest I can only manage 40 on it.
I have 1GB RAM. Right now for gamers 1 to 1.5GB is the average, though with DX10 and all, people are starting to upgrade. I'd say at the minimum for most gamers/programmers/graphic designers, 1GB is good. I hear there is a HUGE difference in performance between 512MB and 1GB.

i play with 512mb ram and have a 2.0Ghz Sempron proc. i do get alot of lag on busy sever days while others i have 70+ fps. However i do have a ATi X1600 pro 512mb PCI/e graphic card which that helps extremely. So its not entirely the ram, its a combo of sever and rig GW is running(but u prolly know that alrdy)
